Garden Festival
Organised for the first time in 1999 the Gardens Festival was another tremendous success with over twenty gardens throughout the village opened for public viewing.
The event was repeated in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and most recently on
July 19th 2009, when 20 gardens were opened. The theme for 2009 was ‘Grow your Own Veg’. Refreshments were served in the Far Bank Pre-School and the Village Hall where an exhibition of local art work was also on display.
Profits from the 2009 event will be used to improve sports and play facilities for the youth of Shelley.
