Letters to the Editor - December 2011
Thirteen young people going on to full time Higher Education applied for grants from the Trust and each was awarded £50 to help with buying textbooks and materials for their courses.
This year the Northern Universities seemed to be popular - particularly Northumbria. The range of courses chosen is as diverse as ever, but there is a definite practical bias - nursing, education, business - and for the first time, a Quantity Surveyor.
One girl is following Dad into Languages, and other courses are Textiles, Art, Criminology and Geography. One young man has chosen to go to New York State to pursue a course in Physical Education.
Our best wishes to these young people, and to all those who are embarking on the very beginnings of their careers in these difficult times.
You may wish to know that the Trust owns the Bridle which is land running along Huddersfield Road, opposite the Star Garage.
