Shelley Cricket Club
Thanks mainly to the efforts of a small band of anti-sports minded people in the village plans had to be abandoned for a multi-sports facility at the north-east side of the ground and the club had compromised by building the new clubroom that was completed at the end of the season.

It was opened by Councillor Christine Smith and Margaret Brooke who had worked so hard on our behalf to obtain funds.

It was the second team who won the headlines in the 2007 season when they lifted the prestigious Crowther Cup by beating Keighley in the final. Gary Eastwood scored 1,383 runs during the season for the Seconds.

There were no prizes for the first team despite Pushy and Friedlander being nominated amongst the top five players in the League.

The nadir of our Drakes League campaign came in 2008 when both teams were relegated and we saw the departure of Pushy who had entertained us so well.
