Shelley Cricket Club
The attendance at the Annual General Meeting saw just four members joining Will Meech and Tony Stephenson who virtually live at the club and have borne much of the work during the season. They were joined by president, Bob Haigh, minute secretary Karen Small man and stalwart Granville Woodhead.

One ray of sunshine was the appearance of Dawn Pitt who had volunteered to replace Sonya Hawley behind the bar. Sonya has reluctantly had to vacate the role due to her studies and other work commitments but she had done a superb job during her tenure.

Dawn, is involved in most aspects of village life being a member of the Community Association, Shelley Gala Committee and the Parent Teachers Association fitting them all
in with her organisation of Leapfrogs, which she describes as ‘her baby’, at Skelmanthorpe. She was to leave with yet another job before the meeting came to an end as the Cricket Club Secretary.

She replaced Roger Matthews who has devoted his life to Shelley Cricket Club, both as a player and official and had expressed his desire to stand down. He will continue as League Representative and in appreciation of his efforts he was made a Life Member of the club.
