Shelley Cricket Club
There are some significant differences from home, both on and off the field.

At home our club cricket is played without remuneration and entirely for the pride of the club. We feel this contributes to a far greater team and club spirit, devoid of hierarchy based on anything other than respect. experience and performance.

Clearly the ability here, to draw a crowd to watch club cricket and the access to bar facilities adds to the flow of money in the game, and for this we are grateful, because without it we would not have had this opportunity in the first place.

There is extra incentive to perform to your best due to the unwavering support of club regulars who turn up regardless of the weather or current form. The playing conditions compared to home as you can imagine, are chalk and cheese.

The luxury of playing on bare, hard, fast wickets has deserted us.

This, along with the ball, which is harder and swings less but for longer has required us to alter out personal styles to suit.
