Shelley Cricket Club
End of Season Review 2009
The next game was probably Shelley’s zenith of the season when they came away from League leaders, Kexborough, with maximum points. This time with the absence of several key players Parker chose to open the innings with Schofield and the pair displayed the class that they really have.

Parker was dismissed for 31 and Richard Hall contributed the same number of runs but, these apart, no one made any sort of contribution apart from Schofield who went on to make 72.

A score of 179 for 9 looked little better than ordinary but Shelley were very short of bowlers. Khan was promised, and got, a long stint of 21.1 overs and produced the goods with 7 for 43.

We unearthed another gem in the form of Jack Jones, making his debut, who was introduced to the attack when the home side were just beginning to accelerate and he did his side proud by hitting the stumps twice in his two overs to finish with 2 for 8.

The league leaders lost their way and their place at the top of the table by being all out for 137.
