The ground looked a picture for the opening fixture against Kirkburton. It was a tough start and we lost but were far from disgraced losing by just 14 runs.

Peter Drysdale made a dream start with a half century with the bat and took 5 for 33 with his slow spinners.

The following day the club trod new ground in the Heavy Woollen Cup to play Jer Lane and chased down the home side’s score of 257 to win by three wickets.

Hussein was prised out of retirement for this match and took 1 for 18 from ten economical overs. Joe Sykes made his presence felt with an innings of 95.

We travelled to Honley to meet the reigning champions the next Saturday and came away with nothing. after getting bowled out for 169.

It was then Sykes Cup time and we travelled down the road to Kirkburton and shocked the Riley Laners as we won by 103 runs thanks to Greg Wadsworth scoring a century. This was coupled with a brilliant bowling performance by Akhlaq ‘Icky’ Ahmed who took 7 for 29.
