During the years since Century Plus was published the Cricket Club has seen many highs and lows.
It was crisis time in 1991 when the club’s Balance Sheet recorded that only £93 was in the bank. Prudence was definitely called for and many fund raising events became the order of the day.
The reason that the funds had become so depleted was that the new facilities at the south-west comer of the ground had been updated including the addition of new changing room to replace the pavilion at the north-west end of the ground.
The committee at this time must be congratulated on their efforts and also during the following successive years for putting the club back on to a more secure footing.
Even before this financial crisis the club had suffered the ignominy of relegation to Section C but this was remedied at the first attempt thanks in no small measure by one of our local lads taking 100 wickets in a season, a record that will be hard to beat.
