Shelley Action Group - SAG
You may or not be aware of the impending proliferation of four wind turbines overlooking Shelley and Kirkburton. Two have already been approved; Woolrow Farm and Pilling Top Farm. The applications of two others are under process: Standinghurst Farm and Bark House Farm.
These industrial machines are all on Greenbelt land, together with an already approved engineering workshop adjacent to Cross Lane. The land in question sits between Shelley Roydhouse and Huddersfield Road, and, with the exception of Woolrow Farm, the turbines will be clearly visible from many houses on the eastern side of Shelley and properties in Kirkburton adjacent to this land.
Even if your property is not directly affected, you may consider these developments are an unacceptable threat to the visual amenity, and to the setting of our villages and the opening up other developments on Greenbelt land in and around Shelley and Kirkburton. The capital value of closely overlooked properties will be negatively affected.
A small number of residents are so concerned at these proposals that an Action Group has been set up to challenge these developments; substantial action has been taken and more is planned.
The Action Group is not a talking shop; it is very pro-active.
