Emmanuel Church always welcomes people who want their children to be part of the family of the Church through baptism, or who want to be baptised themselves.
We thought it might be helpful to set out the procedure for arranging this and what you need to do by way of preparation, as sometimes there has been some confusion.
If you are thinking of having a baptism you can call the vicar, Joyce, on 602640 or 862350 or the baptism visitor, Carol Robertshaw, on 862500.
If you ring Joyce she will ask you to ring Carol as it is she who makes the first visit. Carol will then arrange to come and see you to explain what is involved in baptism and invite you to go to the next preparation evening.
At this evening, which happens several times a year, the promises you will make will be explained, and there will be the opportunity to find out about bringing up children in the Christian faith and to share experiences with other parents as well as to go through the service together. If you decide baptism is not right for you and your child at this time there is the option of having a Thanksgiving Service for the birth of a child.
