Jack was born on the 2nd April 1933 at Farnley Tyas. He lived on a farm at Ludhill and went to Farnley Tyas school.

He met Evelyn at a dance at Storthes Hall for the Lynmouth and Linton floods on 1st May 1953.

He did his National Service for two years in Germany and they got married at Shelley Church on the 31st August 1957 and lived at Heymoor Houses for 3 years and then bought 20 Jenkyn Lane Shepley and had two daughters – Janet and Michelle.

He worked at David Brown Tractors until it closed in 1989 and Jack stayed on to help rebuild a tractor which is now in Ravensknowle Museum with his name on.

Jack always enjoyed anything mechanical. His first car was one he built himself out of wood. Evelyn didn’t tell her parents he was taking her out in it!
