Brenda, an only child, was born in Smethwick, near Birmingham and, following usual Grammar School course gained a diploma in commerce at Birmingham College, affiliated with the University.
She worked for an export agent before marriage to Andrew.
Always a Christian believer, she continued church membership through out her life. When her three children, Anne, Richard and John, were adult she devoted much time to charity work as a volunteer - and continued with that work until twelve months ago.
Brenda trained as a Methodist local preacher and on occassions also served Christian churches of differering traditions.
She was a keen supporter of church unity in principle and an active member of "Churches Together" groups in the local area and she was also a member of Shelley Art Club.
Later in life she took advantage of provision for mature students at Huddersfield University.
