When observing Butterflies and Dragonflies choose a warm day with little or no wind and with little or no cloud cover. Mid-day is probably the best time to observe the most species although in hot weather the insects may be very active and difficult to identify.
Butterflies rarely fly below 13C although slightly warmer conditions may encourage them to bask, to warm up, which gives good opportunities for observing or photographing them.
The Gallery has been divided into three sections entitled Butterflies, Moths and Dragon & Damselflies.
The Butterfly section has spring, summer and autumn sub-sections.
The Moths section is split into Day and Night flying.
