Though no major building work has been undertaken so far this century, various improvements and modernisations have been made to both our buildings, commencing in 1903, when a new central heating system was installed in the chapel and vestry,
(cost £34), and in 1902 at the Sunday school when the lower room walls were boarded and the bench seats installed.
Various repairs are mentioned in the accounts for the early years of this century, e.g. external painting of the school and chapel in 1906, cost £3.18.0. a new drain was installed in the chapel yard in 1907, cost £17.12.6½.
Prior to the digging of this drain we understand that in wet weather newly opened graves were apt to fill quickly with water, which caused coffins to float at the time of internment.
Day today running and maintenance expenses appear to have increased quite considerably after the first world war, for example, painting and decorating the school in 1922 cost £103., up to that date the walls appear to have been whitewashed rather than painted.
