The interior of the Chapel assumed its present layout in 1860, when the ground floor was covered over and the present pews installed downstairs.

The Chapel of one hundred years ago would have been recognisable to us today, even though the walls were then whitewashed, the wooden ceiling painted blue, and the whole lit by candles, with a larger candle holder suspended by chains from the ceiling.

The connexional magazine states that a subscription for altering the Chapel bottom raised £22.0.0. and a collection at a preaching Sunday raised a further £6.0.0., but once again no bills for the work survive unfortunately.

The exterior of the Chapel took its final shape in 1882/3.

In April 1882 the trustees resolved to build a new vestry at the Chapel for the use of visiting ministers.

They originally intended to build at the far end of the Chapel, but later decided to build over the boiler house, which, by then, had replaced the stable block. The date of erection of the outbuildings for this heating apparatus is not known.
