On June 11th in the region of fifty cars were comfortably parked in the cricket field for the visit of Gomersal, who operate in the Bradford League, for the third round of the Heavy Woollen Cup.

The Heavy Woollen Cup competition is the oldest cricket cup competition in the world and to reach the last eight, with the seconds achieving a similar place in the equivalent Crowther Cup, is some achievement.

Gomersal made 223 for 8 with Tom Goatley claiming 4 for 45. We won with seven wickets to spare thanks to 118 not out from Ramzan and 57 from Pushpakumara.

The seconds also played Bradford League opposition and won by two runs in a high scoring game at Farsley. Dave Greaves made 102, aided and abetted by Andy Wright (44) and Gary Eastwood (41) as we made 246 which proved just enough.

Our first League home defeat of the season came on the 24th June.

Micklehurst winning the match with their last pair at the wicket after an heroic performance by our skipper, Graeme Hurlbatt who took 6 for 60, after Ramzan had top scored with 60.
