The amount of junior cricket being played at Shelley during the summer puts an enormous strain on our playing facilities.
Because of this we applied for and received a grant from Kirkburton Area Committee to aid the purchase of an artificial cricket wicket. We believed such a facility was essential if we are to continue to provide the youngsters of Shelley with good conditions to learn and develop as cricketers.
The new pitch was laid during the week ending August 20th last year, under the supervision of groundsman Lindsay Burgin.

We were then honoured last September by a visit by Dickie Bird to officially open the new wicket. He also presented the Junior Cricket Awards.
