We are not a one-man team. Another debutant. Tom Goatley, a speedy opener celebrated by taking the first three Golcar wickets to finish with 3 for 40. Two of our old favourites were making a return to the club.

Mohammed Ramzan celebrated with 55, his half centuries are regular features for his one at Barkisland was his third on the trot. He has promised to repeat his thousand runs in the season.

Darren Lockwood played as if he had never been away with a swashbuckling 44. We made 248 for 4 and Golcar replied with 103 for nine. Even our enterprising skipper, Graeme Hurlbatt was kept out of the limelight but was shrewd enough to introduce his slow bowlers when bad light threatened.

A trip to Scholes is always daunting but when Ramzan hit the third ball of the game halfway to Holmfirth we were on our way to 227 for seven. Ramzan made 30, a failure for him, but Pushy made 51 with the batting hero being Darren Lockwood with 86. Scholes finished on 186 for six with Pushy claiming 4 for 55.

The visit of Kirkburton to Westerley Lane brought an easy victory with the visitors being dismissed for 127 with Graeme Hurlbatt picking up 5 for 74 and Pushy 4 for 23. Ramzan made 72 as we won by five wickets at 130 for five.
