If enthusiasm is the criterion for being good at cricket Nicky is your man. In the field he leads by example and nothing is a lost cause until the ball has crossed the boundary. He is his own biggest critic if his bowling is below standard that is rarely the case.
The picture shows him leading off the team after picking up 5 for 29 against Kexborough. His smooth bowling action produces plenty of pace off the wicket and we have seen the middle stump cartwheeling out of the ground on more than one occasion.
He is also a useful hard hitting batsman although at times his impatience gets the better of him.
He has played for both the club’s under fifteen and under seventeen teams that brought trophies to the club and has tasted first team action. He is an all round sportsman and has captained the Shelley football team.
