Skelmanthorpe’s loss was Shelley’s gain when Andy decided to move to Westerley Lane at the start of the season. You can’t ask more of a man on his debut taking 4 for 29, then going on to make 51 with the bat, but that is exactly what Andy did against Kexborough.
A thoroughly likeable character he exudes confidence in everything he does, be it going out to bat, taking on bowling responsibilities or going for a catch in the field.
He spent ten years in the RAF where he played plenty of cricket both for his station and at Command level and made several centuries with a highest score of 151 not out. He started life as a wicket keeper but came fourth in the Premiership 2 bowling averages in 2003 with 39 wickets at 16.06.
Unfortunately this will be Andy’s only season at Westerley Lane as he is emigrating to Australia at the end of the year looking forward to testing his cricketing skills downunder. Everyone wishes him all the best.
