Opportunities are very few for John because as he is the youngest member of the team he is destined to bat at number eleven.
The eighteen year old is happy with the role for as he says it gives him the chance to improve his game by mixing with international cricketers.
He is dedicated to the club doing much work behind the scenes and it is surprising that having lived in the village all his life he played his junior cricket elsewhere.
He played for Emley, Cumberworth and Clayton West and for the latter he made a half century before being forced to retire.
He has completed his studies at Greenhead College and is about to go to Durham University reading Chemistry but hopes to continue playing cricket for the club.
