The photograph on the right typifies Richard as a happy-go-lucky character.
During his two seasons at Westerley Lane he has had few opportunities to make a mark on the game but usually comes up trumps when the occasion arises.
He showed plenty of talent at a very young age and was good enough to represent Huddersfield Schools at both rugby and cricket. He played for Holmfirth as a youngster but is rightly classed as a Linthwaiter for he spent 20 years with club.
Perhaps Ramzan steers clear of his colleague for he will remember with anguish when the part time bowler dismissed him on his last stint with Shelley in 2004 when he had made 99. Richard finished with 4 for 32 in that match to give him happy memories.
His enthusiasm was well illustrated by his terrific fielding in the Examiner Eights final.
