With the snow having just disappeared Pushy arrived at Shelley and set up home in the flat at the Sports and Social Club that he was to share with his skipper, Graeme Hurlbatt.

The 24 year old didn’t know what lay in store but six months later he can have nothing but happy memories of his stay in Shelley.

He made a spectacular start to his career at Westerley Lane. On a cold damp day, hardly conducive to cricket, especially for batting, he produced some fireworks.

He went to his half century with a six that ended up in a garden three houses down Westerley Lane and to prove it was not a fluke the next two balls ended in the same garden.
