Elsewhere, Lindsay Burgin, with a little help from his friends, has produced wickets and a ground that the village can rightly be proud of.
There was a setback when the fifty-plus year old roller finally called it a day.
The replacement will cost in the region of £3,500 for which funding is being sought. They received help from the Community Association who donated £420 of the profit from the Garden Festival, a good start to getting the ball rolling and the club are truly grateful.
It is the club’s second championship in three years and hopefully they will have a longer stay in the Premiership than previously.
It is just a pity that our facilities won’t be as good as our opponents but the club still hopes to obtain the funding for a new sports club at the north end of the ground.
Overall, Shelley cricket looks to be in a very healthy state both on and off the field.
