Shelley Cricket club enjoyed its brief experience in the Drakes Premier League last season and is anxious to make a quick return to the top flight.
Throughout the three seasons in the Drakes League, Shelley has been well served by players from the Indian subcontinent, with all previous overseas players hailing from Pakistan.
On the return to the Conference, the club felt it was time for a change.
As a result, Australian John Bosworth was signed as their overseas player for the coming season. However for the second time in successive seasons, the club's first choice has had to withdraw, in this case because Bosworth has been unable to obtain a works visa.
Player co-ordinator, Julian Barden has been able to recruit a replacement in South African, Darren Mortimer.
