Seventeen year old John is devoted to Shelley cricket and it is surprising to learn that he played his junior cricket away from the club at Emley, Cumberworth and Clayton West.

It was at Clayton that he made his best score of 50, before being forced to retire.

He currently attends Greenhead College and is hoping to go on to University to study Chemistry. He was first eleven scorer for six years and thoroughly enjoys his cricket.

He is pretty adept at selling raffle tickets in the tea interval.

He has mixed feelings about being a permanent number eleven with little chance to show his talents and feels he could make runs with the second eleven. On the credit side he feels he is learning from the senior players.
