The Clayton West Line
September 1998
It is hard to believe that it is almost two years since I penned in these pages the widely held view that it is impossible to turn back the clock.

Even as I wrote someone was already proving to me to be wrong.

Of course it’s the Kirklees Narrow Gauge Railway of which I speak and I make no apology for this although it was mentioned last month.

How lucky that I did not have a go on it until they had made it back through the Woodhouse Tunnel (I am told the longest in the Country on a privately owned railway - that is if you accept that Railtrack is still semi-public - I hope).

Having travelled from Shepley and Shelley in the direction of Huddersfield more times than I care to remember I have now done the Clayton direction twice, one single to “Sus” it out and one return taking the family.
