We spent far longer on the Whins than originally had been envisaged as there were a wealth of butterflies to observe and a bonus was a very obliging Southern Hawker Dragonfly; a new record for the site.

Species seen on the Whins were as follows:

Small Skipper, Large White, Small White,
Green-veined White, Small Copper, Painted Lady,
Small Tortoiseshell, Comma, Speckled Wood,
Gatekeeper and Meadow Brown.
