At the time of writing, we are currently on 72 species for the year, the second highest total. Not one but two new species were recorded on the Whins, bringing the site list to an impressive 90 species.

25 species bred or probably bred on the Whins & Bridle, same as 2008 and a joint site record. Encouragingly, Willow Warbler bred on the Whins again along with probably Goldcrest and Mistle Thrush for the forth year running.

Garden Warbler probably bred on the Whins, for the first time in nearly 10 years.

Other highlights included breeding Bullfinch, 2 pairs of Song Thrush and Common Whitethroat was confirmed breeding on the Bridle for the second time.
Finches and House Sparrows seemed to have had another good breeding season.
