September and October can be an exciting month bird-wise, as the breeding species start to disperse and longer distant migrants begin to start moving through the countryside.
A variety of Warblers were passing through the Whins in early September including a juvenile Common Whitethroat which spent two days on the site.
Swallows and House Martins continued to trickle through until October.
Other partial migrants including Meadow Pipits, Skylarks and Grey Wagtails were also noted. Less common visitors in September included Lesser Redpoll, Siskin and Nuthatch.
A flock of 20 Linnets over the Whins on 25/9 was notable these days.
