September was disappointing for the first half of the month but the latter half was much sunnier and settled. Indeed, the second half of September was the most settled period of the year after early May.
October was a mixed month with above average sunshine but below average temperatures. It was also very wet in parts of the country.
November has been very changeable so far and with further significant rainfall, has lead to flooding again in some parts of the country.
By the end of the month it was distinctly cool, with snow in many parts of Yorkshire in the third week, along with freezing fog and heavy frosts towards the month end.
