As in 2007, the Summer was another disappointment.
June was rather on the cool side, indeed it was the coldest since 2001, along with average sunshine and rainfall. July was a fairly average month, in terms of temperature, rainfall and sunshine.
August was very disappointing, although temperatures were about average, some parts had their wettest August on record and it was also a very dull month - exactly what insects, especially, butterflies do not want at the height of the summer.
Indeed I believe 2007/8 had been the poorest two summers I can, personally, ever remember.
Finally, autumn arrived and after the summer that never was, perhaps we were in for an Indian summer?
